My Story

Hi, I’m Daisy Turnbull. I am a teacher, and run the wellbeing program at St Catherine’s school, in Sydney. I have worked across school systems and taught different subjects. The thing I have always taken away from my experiences at school is that the students whose parents let them try things out themselves often go further. I have two kids, Jack and Alice, who I have done most of these risks with, or will shortly (except, in all honesty, i’m avoiding risk 46!)

I volunteer as a Lifeline crisis support worker

and am obsessed with knitting and crochet (which, coincidentally is also a risk in the book too.)

Testimonials

An honest, funny and beautifully written account of parenting with all of its accursed uncertainties. If we were serious about absolute risk-aversion, we'd never have children at all, of course, but Turnbull is a wise guide to the risks that are truly worth it. For a book about risk-taking, it's hugely reassuring.
